The curatorial committee will be provided the Panel Mural Submission Form information submitted by artists. 

There will be two rounds of judging and internal meetings, with a final overview, and request for questions and/or edits and/or amendments for the final selection of works. 

1. EVALUATION

All works will be evaluated, and the shortlist will be selected based on the following; 

• i. Sketch, comprehensive drawing, or final design (from past work/ series/ new work) submitted to be part of the program
• ii. Detailed write up/ explanation of submitted sketch or design
• iii. Presenting work that embodies Wall-to-Wall / Synonym's Community Engagement and Collaboration Policy
• iv. Examples of past work

Please note – the committee will also eliminate artists and artwork that are deemed to be in violation of our Safer Spaces policy.

The committee will also prioritize the selection of under-supported artists and communities, particularly those who identify as Black, Indigenous, Afro-Indigenous, People of Colour, 2SLGBTQIA+, Deaf and/or Disabled artists, and any and all people who fall within these intersections.

2. ELIGIBLE WORKS & ARTISTS

Through this program, Wall-to-Wall will be able to highlight works of artists in a variety of visual art mediums including but not limited to; painting, drawing, illustrations, typography, graphic design, photography, digital design, collages, illustrations.

Artworks that are new or part of a series can be submitted.

High-resolution scans or photographs of paintings or other hand-rendered artwork are eligible
.

Artists world-wide are welcomed to apply; locally (Manitoba), Nationally (Canada), Internationally (Around the world)

3. PANEL PRINTS

All selected designs will be printed on vinyl stickers, installed on di-bond panels, and professionally installed within Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada.

Each completed panel will be 8' x 8' OR 4' x 16'

(Two 4'x8' panels installed side-by-side to make one large panel. Please note there will be a line where the panels meet together and screw/nail holes where the panels are installed to the wall/building/space. )

All panel printing, installation, facilitation, and insurance costs will be paid for by Wall-to-Wall.

4. HONORARIUM 

If selected to participate in Wall-to-Wall, you will receive an honorarium of $1,200 CAD (tax inclusive).

Only one honorarium per mural selection. If you're applying as a collective or group, the honorarium will be sent to one (1) member of the group to be disseminated amongst members.

Payment will be provided within 30 businesses days after invoicing.

Beyond standard transfer fees (from our own bank), Wall-to-Wall is not responsible for additional transfer fees or exchange rate discrepancies when payments are made.

5. CONTRACTS, AGREEMENTS & OWNERSHIP

• Wall-to-Wall Mural & Culture Festival’s Contract and Safer Spaces Agreement will be provided to the selected artists / confirmed festival participants prior to the final stage of work. The agreements cover the nature of the artwork required, deadlines, credit line and copyright ownership for the artist, and the honorarium. Any finalists’ work that is late, or not in the form required may be disqualified and the honorarium terminated. All rights to disqualified artwork will remain with the artist.
  
  
• The winners will produce completed art according to the specifications listed in the call for entry (points 1, 2, 3, 6, 7). Artwork will not be altered in any way without the express permission of the artist. Due to the nature of the installed work (panel murals in a public space) damages from weather and/or graffiti are not the responsibility of the festival, its partners, or building owners.
  
  
• All right, title, and interest in and to the final panel mural designs and all elements thereof is and shall be co-owned and/or licensed by the Wall-to-Wall Mural & Culture Festival and the artist/ collective who have created the work for use in any manner or media, worldwide, in perpetuity. The Artist’s service shall be considered “work made for hire” and/or a “work made in the course of employment” as those terms are understood pursuant to Canadian copyright law.
  
  (Further note on this point and example– any and all work created and selected in this programming CAN be recreated, used, and reused by the artist/collective but  the artist/collective is asked to request permission by Wall-to-Wall to do so (within at least ten years since its creation). We request this to ensure no works are re-created for the use of extreme examples that could be or result in harmful actions that go against the festival’s Safer Spaces and Community Engagement Policy – example; art that is re-used in racist propaganda or harmful publishing/ promotion, etc.)
  
  
•  Wall-to-Wall Mural & Culture Festival shall fully credit all services provided by the Artist for the Project. The Wall-to-Wall Mural & Culture Festival may grant a license to the Artist to use the project and any related ideas and materials upon agreement of both parties. (Examples; prints, t-shirt designs, art replications, etc.)
  
  
• Winning designs and its physical form (completed panels), will not be reproduced outside of Wall-to-Wall Mural & Culture Festival and/or the promotion of the festival unless permitted by the artist.

6. DEADLINE + NOTIFICATIONS



The submission deadline for all artworks is June 22, 2021 | 11:00PM CT. No exceptions will be made.

Those who submit work will receive their acceptance or rejection emails by/ before July 13, 2020 at 11:59PM CT (23:59 CT). 


Shortlist/finalists must complete their final submission by July 27, 2021 at 11:59PM CT (23:59 CT), and the Curatorial Committee may ask for two rounds of amendments/edits to be completed for August 3, 2021 at 11:59PM CT (23:59 CT).


7. UNDERSTANDINGS IF SELECTED 

If your work is selected, you will be required to provide either;

• Your work in 300 DPI and exported as a TIFF or PDF file
  
  
•  High-quality or detailed scan photo/ micro-photos of your artwork
  
  
• To fit the final production of panel murals – you will be asked to crop or remake the word to fit the 1:1 (8ft x 8ft) or 1:4 (4ft x 16ft) ratio of the printed mural 

* Please note, if you're using software such as "Procreate" or other illustration tools to set your illustration files to the correct size and DPI. Failure to produce a high-quality (300DPI) image may result in recreating your illustration or disqualification if a work cannot be created within the final completion date.
