ABOUT / ARTIST STATEMENT

Public City with First Person Strategies, was engaged by CentreVenture, a City of Winnipeg agency, to develop an Urban Design Framework Plan for the Marketlands site in downtown Winnipeg. The first step in creating awareness of the nearly forgotten site was to create a large scale urban engagement strategy to start a conversation about what the area could become.

The site mural, facilitated and installed by Synonym Art Consultation, is inspired by a painting on the wall of the tunnel under the Marketlands. The mural extends throughout the site, drawing people in from all sides of the property. The site activation also includes a painted container kiosk that functions as the headquarters for public engagement.
