2021 | Rural Mural Tour
With the incredible support of Manitoba 150 and CWB National Leasing, Wall-to-Wall will be gifting murals to seven communities, towns and/or cities across Manitoba in the summer of 2021!
This newly created and pivoted project is an extended iteration from the planned 2020 Rural Mural Tour that was set to travel to five communities across Manitoba (pre-pandemic). With community safety and wellbeing in mind – we are able to completely gift panel murals that will be designed by local artists.
Each community will pick a local artist that will best represent their community, changing histories, and reflect their growing values. Each artist will work closely (over virtual consultations) to create a design that will then be printed and safely installed in a public space – ensuring every member of their community can access and enjoy a new contemporary work of art.
Wall-to-Wall Mural & Culture Festival would also like to acknowledge Urban Shaman Contemporary Aboriginal Art Gallery for their curatorial guidance throughout the artistic selection and process. As we move forward in the mural process, Urban Shaman will work with a selected communities and towns with virtual workshops and other additional programming.
We would also like to thank Travel Manitoba for helping us document this process so we can safely bring this Rural Mural Tour to you digitally.
